I'm all about versatility and this Six Crisp Days dress speaks to me from work to play. I love the knit fabric because it hugs me just right and is fitted, but not shear. The tulip skirt detailing not only adds a little depth to this simple look, but helps to smooth the belly area. When a dress is fitted like this, it is often unflattering regardless of how slim you are because it shows every little crevice. This knit sweater dress is a bit short in the back, but as long as you add tights or leggings it is easy to wear in a work environment. If you have plans after work or want to solely wear this dress for a night out all you have to do is switch to a bare a leg and some sexy heels.
I love high neck detailing and turtlenecks in general so it was natural to fall in love with this cut. Here is a closer photo to showcase the fabric.
I topped off the look with my favorite Steve Madden heels of the season and a mini envelope clutch by Urban Expressions. I love the simplicity of the shoe straps, the heel thickness, and the height. In previous years this style shoe was only available in a tall skinny heel which made it difficult to walk steadily. This heel is much thicker and about four inches tall which is reasonable for me (compared to a 6 inch stiletto). The clutch I am wearing is perfect for the bare necessities and is available at 25% off at checkout with code FASHIONISTAVANESITA.
The Hidden Garden Steps are tucked away in the hills of the Inner Sunset. I was thinking during our walk to this location how peaceful it felt and how much I was enjoying it. Coincidentally, a few days after we took these photos, this location came up in my Facebook feed as a good place to visit when you're feeling antisocial in San Francisco. I often have introverted tendencies and it's easy to get overwhelmed with all the hustle and bustle of the city. I feel the need to "get away" from time to time and this walk gave me time to decompress.
For the first look I am wearing a green and black striped turtleneck dress byEverly and a cozy knit vest by LOOK. I was unsure how the two olive tones would look against each other, but felt the subtle stripes in the dress would create enough contrast to make the look work. Layers like this are ideal for San Francisco because the weather is so unpredictable. All you have to do is peel the vest on or off depending on the change in temperature throughout the day.
We made our way to the top of the steps and I felt it was time for an outfit change. Green was the theme this day, apparently, and I shimmied into a t-shirt dress by Teenplo The walk over was full of fog and mist, but we finally met with the sun kissed hill and this lightweight option was more appropriate. I kept the BC booties and Urban Expressions bag the same and added three layered necklaces to spicen it up. I wasn't crazy about the lighting here, but loved that you could see Sutro Tower peeking behind me.
We continued our walk down the hill and found a fun fence that complimented the dress even more. Once I decided I was happy with this shot, for advertising purposes, I was ready for another outfit change.
I love that this house is different from the rest in the neighborhood. It reminds me of the architecture found in Texas or Palm Springs. I also loved the contrast of my dark look against the cream house. For this shot I layered the previous dress I had on with a cozy sweater dress byLumiere Fashion. The dress length is appropriate in the front, but has slits on the side which is why I did not want to wear it alone. Again, we kept the purse, shoes, and necklaces the same. This post reinstates why booties are my favorite shoe. They are a versatile style for cuteness and comfort.
This is what a day is like for me as a blogger. I often shoot several looks in one day, but usually create different posts for each look. We walk around the city with bags full of clothes in hopes of finding complimentary locations. Blogging is fun, but very time consuming. It takes hours and hours to style, find locations, take good photos, write the post, add links, etc. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to look at my work and who truly support me. Thanks for taking a walk with me today!

It's been so gloomy in the city and I was excited the sun decided to come out this afternoon. Mario and I like to match on occassion and coincidentally have the same favorite colors. We decided we would wear green for our next shoot.
For my look, I decided on a lightweight turtleneck to compliment my button down skirt. It is still cool and breezy, even with the sunshine, so I added my sexy over the knee Aldo boots for added coverage.
We wanted to incorporate his new VINCE shirt from Nordstrom Rack into our post. I insisted he try this piece on when we were shopping downtown a few weeks back and it ended up working well. I first fell in love with VINCE (during my stint at the Bloomingdale's Men's department) for their slim cuts and soft fabrics.
We found so much inspiration from the Victorian architecture and managed to get some good shots together on my tripod. I have resisted from posting cute houses on my Instagram page because I wanted to keep it solely style related, but I think I may begin to incorporate more of the beautiful architecture from around my city more often.
This time around we wanted to feature the Painted Ladies, also known as the Full House, house. The grass was gated off due to renovation and the area that wasn't gated off was full of people. It was difficult to get a clear shot so we decided to wander the neighborhood and found a few other beautiful homes to shoot in front of.
