#1. Plaid Button Down

Plaid symbolizes Fall more than any other print, which makes it the first must have on my list. This style traditionally comes in red and black, but in recent years clothing lines have extensively expanded their flannel collections outside of the color box. If red doesn't go well with your coloring or you simply want more than one option, there are many choices for you. I easily own five different plaid tops in various combinations.

This button down is my newest and most favorite flannel yet. I have an older style bySanctuary Clothing, that is more fitted in red and navy. This year, the company created a "Boyfriend" cut and I felt the difference in shape and color were enough justification to purchase a second red plaid shirt.

#2. Fashion Forward Backpack

For many people Fall symbolizes a new school year. What better way to ring in the Academic Calendar than with a brand new backpack?

#3. Peelable Layers

As San Francisco transitions into Fall we often experience heat waves. The weather is unpredictable day to day, hour by hour, and fluctuates by neighborhood. It is important to wear several layers that are equally cute and comfortable in case you need to peel a layer off at any given moment.

#4. Open Sweater Vest

Sweater vests are perfect for the Fall transition because they provide breathable layers. Open sweater vests go well with any sleeve length and are versatile with a large range of bottoms. Maintain cuteness and comfort throughout the day with a knit like this. As the weather continues to cool throughout the coming months you can easily layer this style under a long coat.
#5. Long Sleeve Dress
Long sleeve dresses keep your arms warm while allowing your legs to breathe. They are easy to layer with a variation of sweaters or cropped jackets. When it becomes cooler you can rock this style by adding tights or leggings.

This flirty pocket dress is by an Eco Friendly brand, Mittoshop, and is made out of a rare Bamboo Fiber! The premium fabric is soft and breathable. This dress is machine washable, which is almost a luxury, given most companies provide synthetic fabrics that are "hand wash" or "dry clean only".

#6. Booties

Booties are small, but mighty. Their versatility can complete a large range of styles depending on the context. They are perfect during these seasonal transitions because they will be cohesive with the various layers that are required for the unpredictable weather.
#7. Over the Knee Boots

Over the knee boots are perfect at this time of the year because they can be worn with shorts, a skirt, or a dress. These boots create a layer of coverage while your upper half is in Summer Mode. Once the Fall season has fully settled in, thigh high boots will transition nicely with leggings and denim for cozier looks.

#8. Cream Pull Over Sweater

Cream sweaters scream Fall, yet this light shade will match with many of your Summer pieces. I love that pullovers are not super bulky in case they need to be tucked away for warmer moments. These sweaters are easy to layer over thin tops now and can be layered under jackets later in the season.
